결속을 강화하는 프랑스사람들 / Solidarity with all French people

오늘밤 여기 프랑스 사람들과 많은 이야기를 나누고 이 작은 마을에서 있었던 평화로운 집회를 지켜보았습니다. 

프랑스는 공격을 받고 있다고 느끼고 있고 언론의 자유 또한 공격을 받고 있어요. 3명의 테러리스트들이 (풍자) 만화가, 경찰 그리고 다른 사람들을 죽였고 희생자의 가족들은 지금 제가 있는 이곳에서 겨우 몇백키로 떨어진 곳에서 슬퍼하고 있죠. 

최대한 격앙되지 않고 모욕하지 않으려고 노력합니다. 왜냐하면 이미 수천명의 사람들이 테러리스트를 미워하고 비난하는 쪽에 있으니 우리가 그들 중 한명이 되어 힘을 보탤 필요는 없다고 생각해요. 이 포스트를 통해서 두려움이 이기도록 내버려두지 말고 조금만 관용의 마음 가졌으면 합니다. 저는 테러리스트들에 대한 미움이 아닌 희생자들의 슬픔을 이해하고 연민하는 마음이 사람들의 마음속에 남도록 희망합니다. 그렇다면 아마도 내일 아침에는 죽음과 증오가 아닌 희망과 평화를 이야기할 수 있겠지요.

희생자들의 가족에게 애도를 표하며 모든분들께 행운이 함께하기를 프랑스에서 기원합니다. 

We've spoken to many French people tonight and we have watched peaceful vigils here in our small French town. 

France feels under attack. Free speech is under attack. Three terrorists have killed cartoonists, policemen and others. Families are grieving tonight only a few hundred kilometers from here. 

I will try to not be angry or be insulting. We have thousands of other people who will hate on all sides so there's no need for us to be among them. For this post we will say only that we hope that understanding and not fear will prevail. I hope understanding and sympathy for all those who have died will prevail. Maybe tomorrow morning will bring stories about hope and peace, not death and hatred.

 

As a blog about an inter-cultural couple, we feel it necessary to say this: accept all cultures, don't judge individuals by their race or culture, and work towards peace always.
